What is the Berry Amendment?

The Berry Amendment is a set of domestic-source requirements that Congress has included in annual Department of Defense (DoD) appropriations acts since 1941. In simple terms, it requires the Department of Defense to give preference to food, clothing, fabrics, and certain other products that are grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the United States.
